CHRONOMASTER SPORT

28 Mar 2024

Elevated Frequencies: Zenith Adds two new models to the Chronomaster Sport line with the first green ceramic bezel and integrated rubber strap as well as the first gem-set reference.

In the three years since its introduction, the Chronomaster Sport has made its mark and solidified its position as a leading contender among sporty chronographs. The heir to a long legacy of ZENITH chronographs that began prior to the game-changing El Primero’s launch in 1969, the Chronomaster Sport is the culmination point in the Manufacture’s pursuit of precision, performance and design. Now, the award-winning Chronomaster Sport takes on a chromatic striking green ceramic bezel and dial, while debuting the line’s new integrated rubber strap.

ZENITH also presents an exceptional rendition of the Chronomaster Sport exclusively for its boutiques. It combines the 1/10th of a second chronograph with expert gem-setting in the first-ever bejewelled Chronomaster Sport, crafted in rose gold and embellished with terrestrial gemstones and cosmic metal.

ZENITH’s exemplary Chronomaster welcomes two different editions – and they couldn’t be more striking. For the first time in the Chronomaster Sport core collection, the engraved 1/10th of a second bezel on top of the 41mm steel case with pump-style pushers is crafted in green ceramic. Fitted with a three-link steel bracelet with adjustable clasp, the green aesthetic explores a different side of sportiness with vibrant chromatics.

This play on tones and contrasts extends to the dial, which is done in a green lacquer matching the tone of the ceramic bezel. Unmistakably a Chronomaster, it features ZENITH’s signature tricolour counters in shades of grey and blue. The date wheel has also been colour-matched to the dial. Two references are available: one with the three-link stainless steel bracelet, and the second with ZENITH’s new rubber strap developed specifically for the Chronomaster Sport. Crafted from soft yet durable FKM rubber, the strap is designed to be perfectly integrated with the case and its colour matched to the bezel.

For those seeking something more dazzling, ZENITH presents the fanciest iteration of the Chronomaster Sport yet. Eye-catching and inherently precious, the Chronomaster Sport is crafted in a radiant rose gold case and bracelet, with a dazzling bezel featuring expertly set baguette-cut white diamonds, black spinels and grey as well as blue sapphires on the bezel. The El Primero’s trademark tricolour scheme takes on a new context here, embellishing the Chronomaster Sport to new heights while remaining instantly recognizable.

The dial is just as exceptional in this special execution of the Chronomaster Sport, which deftly combines innovative watchmaking with gem-setting. Crafted from a slab of meteorite, the dial is meticulously hand-finished then given a golden colour that reveal the meteorite’s unique Windmanstätten pattern with a warm, solar glow. Adding to the complexity of working with an extra-terrestrial material, the dial is set with baguette-cut diamond hour markers and applied chronograph counters in the traditional shades of grey and blue. As the finishing touch of harmony, the date wheel is done in a gold tone matching the dial.

The latest in a long line of ZENITH chronographs that have raised the bars of performance and precision, the Chronomaster Sport is equipped with the latest version of the El Primero calibre, dubbed the El Primero 3600. With its high frequency of 5 Hz (36’000 VpH), the movement offers a true 1/10th of second indication. Its autonomy has also been rendered more efficient, with an extended power reserve of 60 hours. The sapphire display back provides an unobstructed view of the movement’s contemporary, architecture features a sleeker and more open design, revealing a blue column wheel and open rotor marked with the five-pointed star Zenith.
